KATHRYN AND JIM'S WEDDING AT MANOIR DE RIMBARD - 14TH AUGUST 2010

Kathryn and Jim’s wedding had been two years in the planning, but as the expression  ‘the best laid plans of mice and men‘ goes, we were still left running round like mad men the month before.  However all that put aside, everything came together for the most perfect of days.  The Manor was finished, and every bedroom was used.  We even had guests camping in the meadow for the weekend.

The morning of the wedding was spent setting the tables in the marquee in the garden.  It looked lovely.

After lunch Kathryn and her bridesmaids disappeared to make themselves gorgeous.

At 2pm we all made our way to the ancient Commanderie in the village for the marriage ceremony.  Our lovely lady Mayor Mme Auliard made the civil service very personal and special.

After the ceremony we were ready for refreshments.  We had planned ahead for this, and booked the local village hall.  Wine, tea, coffee and cake were served to all our wedding guests and all our friends who we were unable to invite to the wedding meal.

At 7pm dinner was served in the marquee.  The roast pig was a huge success.  After the speeches, the tables were pushed aside and the dancing began.  We danced all night long.  At 6am all was quiet as the last of our guests made their weary way to bed.   Our beautiful first-born child was now a married woman – where did the years go?  Jim, our new son-in-law is the man I would have picked for her – perfect in every way.  We wish them all the happiness in the world.

The R2R CHALLENGE - 31st MARCH - 8TH APRIL 2012

On the 31st March our daughter Nicola and friend Dan set off on their bikes from Rishton, a small Lancashire village, and arrived on Sunday 8th April here at the Manor . The aim of the challenge was to raise funds for the N.S.P.C.C. by order of sponsorship.

They cycled over 650 miles in 9 days, and to make it an even more of a  challenge, they did it without spending any money, relying on the generosity of strangers to donate food and shelter.

They had many adventures on the way.  Most were exciting, but some were hair-raisingly scary.  If you want to know more have a look at their blog.

They raised well over £1,000, gained a new fitness level and a huge sense of personal achievement.  We are very proud of them both.  Well done Nicola and Dan
